Racoons in Germany

“Projekt Waschbär” – Racoons in the MĂźritz National Park (Germany)

The wildlife study “Projekt Waschbär” is about an integrated raccoon project, consisting of three modules and a plurality of inferior subprojects. The focus is on the acquirement of new insights and the development of precise conclusions regarding the population biology of raccoons in central Europe, which can be transformed into applied fields. Therefore, a perennial research study about raccoons is being conducted in the MĂźritz National Park (Mecklenburg-Vorpommerania, Germany), containing scientific investigations about nutrition- and reproduction ecology, land use, epidemiology and parasitology as well as the social system.
